International Women's Day 2024: Saft's Impact & People Testimonies
This year for International Women's Day, Saft is celebrating the "Inspire Inclusion" theme. Get to know some of our team members to learn more.
In the quest for fairness between genders, Saft is not just talking about it, there is a real change behind it. Beyond fancy words, our promise to include everyone is more than just talk, it's supported by numbers that tell an important story. Our team proudly reflects this dedication, with women making up 31% of our workforce, and 25% of our managers of women.
If we dig a bit deeper into our organization, you can easily see our commitment. Female managers make up a strong 25%, a big jump from the industry's 15%. Also, our leaders reflect this promise, with a solid 14% of female general managers of our production sites and 14% of our STEP-Up program members are female experts.
Our mission isn't just about doing something symbolic on International Women's Day; it's part of our everyday work at Saft. It's a promise to include everyone that you can feel in every corner of our organization. But let's not get too caught up in the numbers; let's meet some of the awesome people who make these statistics real and truly represent inclusion at Saft.
Lisa Bjorklund: SES Lean Coordinator, Oskarshamn
Lisa's journey at Saft began in 2009 as an operator in the Oskarshamn plant. Two years ago, she transitioned to the SES team, now serving as a SES Lean Coordinator. "I love my job, and working on various projects every day gives me a strong feeling of inclusion," Lisa shares. Her work, she emphasizes, contributes positively to the ongoing transformation of Saft.
Justin Hill: Planning & Logistics Manager, Jacksonville
For Justin Hill, the inspiration for his commitment to inclusion comes from his mother. "She inspired me for her work ethic and her service to her customers," he reflects. Justin's mother took her job seriously and personally, always striving to make people feel better about themselves. His story mirrors the values that define Saft's commitment to creating an inclusive work environment.
Sandy Lee: APAC Financial Controller, Hong Kong
Sandy Lee, our APAC Financial Controller in Hong Kong, has always dreamt of working with numbers. When asked about the woman who inspires her, she instantly names Katherine Johnson, an African American mathematician whose contributions to space programs resonate with Sandy's passion for mathematics. "To me, she's a role model for women and a worthy representative of a minority," Sandy declares.
Loïc Maupeu: Facility Manager Officer, Bordeaux
For Loïc Maupeu, inclusion is about kindness and sharing. As a motorsport fan and Facility Manager Officer in Bordeaux, he emphasizes the collaborative spirit within Saft. "I am part of the facility management team, so I happen to work with everyone on various topics, and I do feel included," Loïc shares.
At Saft, inclusion is not just a celebration on March 8th; it's a living commitment that inspires and acts on inclusion every day. The stories of Lisa, Justin, Sandy, and Loïc are emblematic of a workplace culture that goes beyond mere rhetoric, creating an environment where everyone feels valued, empowered, and truly included.
